Congratulations to Brandon! Brandon has been enrolled in our Math and Problem Solving program for several years, and it has been a privilege to witness the growth of his mathematical abilities. In March, we learned that Brandon made the Honor Roll of the American Math Competition. AMC is a difficult and highly competitive math competition, and only the top 5% of participants in the country make the Honor Roll. This is a huge achievement and a testament to Brandon’s talent and hard work in math. Brandon wrote this kind note to let us know how Brain Power contributed to this accomplishment:
For over four years, the Brain Power math program has taught me so many different skills and concepts, and it's not just math skills that I picked up. I've learned quite a lot about how to better organize my time and extracurriculars over the past few years. The teachers at their math programs have pushed me to try harder at school, and I am appreciative of their lessons. Thanks to Brain Power, I was able to take my problem-solving and logic skills to the next level, even going as far as applying them into real-world problems. Also, I am astounded by the amazing learning environment provided by my teachers as they support and care for everyone. Overall, Brain Power has taught me various life skills and problem solving capabilities that can carry over into whatever I do. I'm grateful to be part of such an encouraging and positive community of students, parents, and most importantly, teachers.
Thank you so much for these kind words, Brandon! We’re very proud of your success in AMC and your development as a student. Way to go!
Meet Lev: Making Waves in AI
Meet our brilliant alumnus, Lev! Over several years, Lev flourished in our Math and Problem Solving, Language Arts, and Public Speaking programs. Since he moved on to university, Lev has always kept us informed about the exciting developments in his education and career. Lev recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree in the prestigious Computer Science program at the University of Waterloo. During this program, Lev held several impressive co-op placements and internships. These days, he is working full time as a software engineer at Untether AI which delivers energy-centric AI inference acceleration from the edge to the cloud, supporting any type of neural network model
Recently, Lev sent us the following reflection on his time at Brain Power:
“Brain Power was the highlight of my week. I remember always looking forward to the days I had class at Brain Power, despite having a long, perilous journey on the YRT to get there. The lessons were always engaging, the instructors always provided very interesting insights, and my classmates always made the class environment fun. And to top it all off, I'm certain that the things I learned at Brain Power provided me with the foundation I needed to get into the university I wanted to, and to succeed at all my endeavors in university and beyond.”
Thank you, Lev! We’re so proud to have played a role in your academic development, and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the future.
Meet Arfa: Rising Leader in Ontario's Page Program
This fall, our student Arfa will be working as a page with the Government of Ontario! Arfa was recently accepted into the prestigious and highly competitive Ontario Page Program. Each fall, a select group of middle-school students from across Ontario attends Parliament as a page, witnessing the workings of the government firsthand and developing their leadership skills. We’re thrilled that Arfa will be taking up this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
Arfa wrote us a wonderful note about how she became interested in the page program and how Brain Power helped her to get there. Here’s what she told us:
"When I heard about the Page Program, I was very intrigued. From a young age, I wanted to engage in leadership opportunities and stand up for injustices that I saw in my community. As this passion for leadership grew over the years, the Page Program was a fantastic opportunity to help develop the skill that I wanted to excel in. As I now attend the Page Program, my aspiration to become a leader skyrockets, and I am very inspired to do my best every day.
I've been a Brain Power student for three years, and this has contributed significantly to my application as a page. Brain Power has opened a lot of doors for my education...
I thank Brain Power for building my language skills and improving my grammar. "
Ontario is lucky to have such a responsible and visionary student among its future leaders. Congratulations, Arfa!
